Upon arrival, kick off your shoes, enjoy a rum punch and bask in the sun. This is Cayman Brac! Find a secluded hammock among the sea grapes and coconut palms and decompress from the hustle of everyday life. Vacation has begun!
Accommodations are at Brac Reef Resort, a property that Sub-Aquatic Sports has used often. The resort sits on 4 1/2 acres of sandy beach with the ocean just steps away. Everything is close by, the restaurant, the hammocks, the hobby cats and, of course, the dive boats. Cayman Brac is a family-owned and operated resort with 27 standard rooms, 10 junior suites and 3 handicap-accessible rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and have either a walkout balcony or patio with a beachfront view. The restaurant offers buffet-style meals. The food selection is diverse and fresh. All meals are included during your stay. Diving, of course, is our main focus and this place is known for ‘valet dive service’. Twelve dives are included in the package. On the first morning, set your gear bag outside the hotel door and a staff member will take it from there. That’s the last time you’ll haul it for the week. The staff will load it onto the boats each day, set regulators onto tanks then rinse everything in the evening. Unparalleled service is paired with unparalleled diving. The Caribbean Sea is home to an endless array of fish, corals and marine life. The waterscape ranges from reef to walls to shipwrecks. The most popular shipwreck is the Russian Missile Frigate #356, renamed the MV Capt. Keith Tibbetts (as in the Tibbetts family who owns the resort). It is located just 10 minutes from the docks. The surrounding reefs are home to tons of turtles plus Spotted Eagle Rays, Reef Sharks, Nassau Groupers, Moray Eels, Stingrays, Horse-Eye Jacks, Barracuda, Nurse Sharks, Tarpon, Flying Gurnards and more! Water temperatures will be around 78-80`F. The visibility is usually excellent. Morning boats depart for two dives at 8:30 am. You’ll be back by lunchtime. In the afternoon, relax by the pool or enjoy another afternoon dive. Optional afternoon dives and night dives are available for an additional fee. About Cayman Brac:
This small coral island is rich with history. Christopher Columbus first documented the island in 1503. Tales of pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny plus buried treasure create a colorful backdrop to what today is a peaceful, quiet hideaway. Local residents now number around 1,800. There is a distinct Caribbean charm to the island. Houses are painted pastel colors and have gingerbread details. Ride a bike to the small town and you’ll find cattle grazing and vegetable gardens. Hikers can explore miles of trails surrounded by tropical plants and fruit trees. Mango and papaya, as well as beautiful wild orchids, abound. A Non-diver's Perspective of Cayman Brac |
