Technical Dive - Weekend - Presque Isle
Dates: June 17-19
Presque Isle has some of the nicest mid-range technical wrecks in the Great Lakes. Each has a rich history and most are intact! The weekend starts by a Friday arrival into a Roger City hotel. Enjoy a relaxed evening dinner and pre dive briefing.
Weather permitting, Saturday’s adventure will be on the wreck of the Norman, a steel steamer launched in 1890 that is 296ft in length. She sits in 210’ of water at a 45degree list.
The second dive is the Windiate in 165ft -185ft of water. When you envision a perfect shipwreck, there’s a good chance that it looks like the Windiate. Her hull is intact with masts still standing, rigging in place and even a suspended boom. This wreck is simply a WOW and possibly the most photogenic shipwreck in the Great Lakes.
On Sunday, two more dives are planned on wrecks that were involved with each other’s sinking. In 1854, the Defiance and Audubon collided. Both now rest on the bottom, upright and intact. The Defiance lies in 186ft of water, the Audubon in 178ft. Underwater visibility is usually amazing on these sites.

* All Great Lakes trips are weather dependent. We have listed focus shipwrecks for each destination, however, Mother Nature does not always agree with
our choices. The charter boat captain has complete say in choosing sites if the conditions are unfavorable. They also can and will cancel charters if they feel the weather conditions are unsafe. (As we like to say, those shipwrecks are down on the bottom for a reason. Let’s not add to the collection.) The boat’s policy determines the refund, not Sub-Aquatic Sports. We STRONGLY suggest purchasing travel and dive insurance.
- Payment: A $100 non-refundable deposit is necessary to guarantee space on a trip. Final payment is due 30 days prior to departure. Refunds will only be given when we can refill your space. If this is possible, a $50 service charge will apply to cover additional advertising expenses, and the time it takes to change paperwork, reservation, etc.
Please remember that most charters only hold six divers. Space is extremely limited. Please don’t procrastinate. Sign up Today!
