Nitrox Certification

Description
Dive longer yet safer? Sounds like a contraction but it's not. Nitrox is a breathing medium perfect for anyone who travels. Consider the cost involved with going on vacation. Once you finally get a chance to dive, don’t you want to maximize your bottom time? Nitrox allows for shorter surface intervals and longer bottom times because of the increased oxygen that’s added to the tank. Increased oxygen levels mean less nitrogen which is what causes the bends.

Nitrox is a "mid range" gas for all recreational diving depths but most beneficial within the 60 to 90 foot range. This class can be doubled up other certification courses and is the only class you can "piggy back" the open water training dives with those other classes.

In this class, you’ll learn more about the physiology of nitrogen plus learn how to dive on Nitrox. You’ll learn how to determine the optimal mix for the type of dives you wish to do then apply oxygen exposure limits and calculate maximum operating depths. Learn how to test Nitrox mixtures and discuss equipment recommendations.

Overview and Pre-requisites
You’ll Learn to ....

  • Understand Dalton’s law of partial pressure
  • Understand the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen
  • Calculate MOD or Maximum Operating Depth based on the gas mixture
  • Analyze your own breathing mixture
