If Fiji isn’t on your bucket list, then it should be. Some of the most beautiful reefs in the world are found here. SASS has done extensive research for our 2010 trip. Our standards are high. First, there has to be unlimited diving. Photographers must have complete flexibility and accessibility to the reefs to allow for relaxed undisturbed bottom time. The reefs have to be healthy; there certainly are good and bad places to dive in Fiji. Both Rick and Kim have explored multiple places and we’ve picked the best dive sites for the money. The second consideration is the resort. We didn’t want a place that felt too ‘hotel-like’ or polished. To do so would mean missing the cultural beauty and traditions of the Fijian people.
So with all these factors to consider, our choice is Paradise Taveuni. We’re not alone in our opinion. Jean Michel Cousteau has written “Few places remain on the planet as beautiful as Taveuni – the diversity of life of these vital coral reefs is overwhelming! Here, the serious diver will find the Paradise.”
The house reef at Paradise Taveuni tipped the scale in choosing this location. Giant clams, hard and soft corals, resident moray eels, sea snakes and flashlight fish can all be found right off shore. World famous sites like Rainbow reef and White wall are easily accessible by boat. Dive sites range from sheer reef walls from 3000 feet to the surface, shallow sunlit coral gardens, current-flushed channels, “gravel groveling” and “muck dives” in protected bays. Depending on the package you choose, 5-8 days of boat dives are included as well as unlimited shore dives.
So, how does one get to paradise? Truthfully, it requires a little extra travel and expense to reach Fiji’s third largest island, but the rewards are immense. Paradise Taveuni resort offers 10 luxurious Fijian bures, each with both indoor and outdoor showers, a king size bedroom and lounge area. Each bure has high arching ceilings fans and traditional Fijian thatch roofs, keeping the interior cool and fresh during the sunny days at Taveuni. There are 6 ocean view bures each of them with luxurious Jacuzzis and 4 elegant Tropical Bures for the guest with budget in mind. Between dives, relax in the gorgeous infinity pool or go horse riding, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, hiking, guided tours, waterfall trips, rainforest tours, relaxing spa services and plenty of hammocks and poolside deck chairs to choose from.

This trip originates out of Los Angles, CA. The current flight is included in the package. Please book domestic flights into LAX (Los Angles Airport) to allow plenty of time for connections. Please note, the flight times are subject to change.
