- Advanced Diver Certification
Advanced Diver is fun and easy! Lectures are completed in just two nights and then we head to Gilboa Quarry for a weekend of good times. In just one weekend, you'll complete 6 different types of dives. That's more than most people get in a whole summer!
Who should take Advanced Diver?
New divers will find this class the next logical step in their education process. People often sign up for Advanced Diver right after completing open water training dives. Advanced Diver Certification is also perfect for people who need a refresher class. Why not review your skills while having a great time diving!
Why dive at an Ohio quarry?
Since diving is the emphasis of the course, Advanced Diver Certification can only be offered in the summer when the water temperatures are warmer. Our favorite location is Gilboa Quarry; it offers the most diversity for a single dive location. The quarry is designed for divers. There's plenty of dock space to suit up, an area for a deep dive, and an array of underwater fixtures for navigation work. It is stocked with catfish, rainbow trout and paddlefsh. It's great fun to swim through a small jet plane, helicopter and school bus. Your dives will include an orientation/goal setting dive, a navigational dive, deep dive, night dive, review of rescue techniques and a specialty dive such as underwater photography or the use of a full face mask dive.

But Wait! There’s More!
Advanced Certification can easily be combined with our Drysuit Seminar and Nitrox Certification class. These dives count toward your six-dive requirement so you double up certifications without much effort. The Drysuit Seminar is offered on the Wednesday prior to Gilboa. Before your second Advanced Lecture, come into the store for a short seminar and suit fitting. Then on Wednesday, meet with one of our instructors at Gull Lake for an orientation dive. You’ll get properly weighted out, practice dumping techniques and work on buoyancy control. Best yet, you keep the rental suit until the end of the Gilboa Weekend, so you can use it during the advance dive skills.
Drysuit Seminar Cost: $99 when combined with Advance Certification, regularly $189.
This includes the Tuesday seminar and fitting, Wednesday dive with instructor and the 5-day drysuit rental.
Nitrox Certification Cost: $99 when combined with Advance Diver Certification, regularly $119.
Nitrox Certification consists of one full day of lectures (Saturday) and two Nitrox dives. These dives can be done while doing other Advance skills such as navigation, night dive, etc.
Warm Water Option:
Classroom work is done via Home-Study Kit and dives are done at either of these two locations:- Cayman Brac - March 26-April 2
- Saba - April 2- 9
