Lake Michigan Shipwreck: Verano

Early in the summer of 1995, two shipwreck hunters were searching for the elusive steamer Chicora off of South Haven. What they found instead was the Verano, a luxury yacht. Here history wraps around the Great Depression and the stock market crash of 1929. It's interesting reading - check it out at MSRA's website, www.michiganshipwrecks.org/diving.htm. Today the wreckage lies in only 50 feet of water, the perfect beginner wreck dive.
